While building guitars, I usually find small pieces of figured or exotic wood that are just begging to be used. Rather than discard these as offcuts of wood, I use them to create distinguished writing instruments: ball-point pens, rollerball pens, and fountain pens. When building a custom order, these guitar pens compliment the guitar, since the pen used to sign contracts or autographs came from the same board as the guitar.
Each pen is handcrafted and polished with beeswax from my hives. The color of the pens will darken as they age with regular use. These pens will satisfy you for a lifetime.
A good overview of the various guitar pens is shown in the video below:
The Slim Twist Pen marries two consecutive cuts of wood to allow the grain and figure of the wood flow from tip to cap. They fit easily in a purse or pocket and are perfect for the writer who enjoys a lightweight pen.
The European Style Pen shares the twist action of the slim twist, but in a heftier size. The “cap” is a larger diameter than the body of the pen, providing a larger showcase for the natural figure of the wood. These are perfect for a writer who appreciates a balanced and solid feeling pen.
The Rollerball Pen and the Fountain Pen represent the distinguished line of desk pens in our collection. Each pen has a removable cap that posts on the back of the pen while writing. Fountain pens ship with a disposable ink cartridge and a pump to use with an ink well. Rollerball pens ship with a gel rollerball ink cartridge.
